Melania Trump Releases Statement After Trump Assassination Attempt
Melania Trump issued a statement hours after a gunman attempted to kill her husband, urging Americans to heal political divides and focus on love.
"Let us not forget that different ideas, politics and political games are lower than love," he said.
In his message, he described the person responsible for Saturday's attack as a "monster" and condemned the "violent" attack on Donald Trump's life.
Statement of Mrs. Trump broke a long silence, especially during the campaign, during the first presidential election, away from the cameras and in the middle of legal battles.
However, the personal resignation of the president's first wife ended - at least temporarily - in Sunday's statement.
"As I watched the violent shooting of my husband, Donald, I realized that my life and Barron's life were on the verge of a dramatic change," Trump said.
"Thank you to the tough Secret Service and law enforcement officers who risked their lives to protect my husband."
Mrs. Trump also praised other victims of the attack.
"I humbly express my heartfelt sympathy to the families of the innocent people who are now suffering in this heinous act," he said.
Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old resident of Pennsylvania, allegedly pointed a gun at Donald Trump and opened fire on Saturday night. A Republican candidate's ear was blown off, one dead and two injured, police said.
During the attack, Crooks was shot by the authorities.
In her message, Mrs. Trump tried to remind readers about the humanity of her husband, the true humanity of the Trump family - and the humanity of America.
"Let's remember that when we look behind left and right, red and blue, we all come from families that strive for a better life while we are on this earth." recently made headlines when he didn't make the list of speakers at the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin this week.
However, he spoke at the meeting in 2016 and 2020, insisting that it is possible that recently decided to disappear.
But time pressure forced him back into the limelight this week.
"This morning rise above hatred, vitriol and simple ideas that inspire violence," he said.
"We all want a world where respect is important, family comes first and love comes first."
